Last Night I Nearly Knew (2021-2023)

This project started as an effort to add relatable accounts to the public discourse surrounding mental health in the Covid-19 pandemic.

Back in 2021, I explained its motivation by saying it matters to have scientific data surrounding a panic attack and to know how to prevent it, but it also matters to feel like you are not the only person in the world having a panic attack.

I found people who wished to share their accounts about the collective trauma that the pandemic really was and how they navigated a split from an old way of living.

I had a free discussion with them, guided by some questions and then I photographed them in a place where they had found solace in the previous two years.

I made duets out of these portraits and images I took in residential areas of Timișoara in the same period of time.
