The first round of the presidential election gets anulled for the first time in Romanian history, citing influence of a foreign agent in the results.

The sudden appeareance of Călin Georgescu in the electoral landscape following a short two week marketing campaign on TikTok drew a massive amount of supporters prior to voting, solidifying him as the first round winner.

This attracted critique directed towards the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), and led to harsher rules for presidential candidates in the election rerun that followed.
